EV2025LVRA - A FUNNY GOING ON

Spring Hill

Ray recounts a chilling experience his father had in the remote valley near Spring Hill Farm, close to Beckwithshaw and Ten Acre Reservoir, just outside Harrogate. A practical man who dismissed all talk of the paranormal, Ray’s father ran a gardening business and often collected moss for wreaths and hanging baskets from this secluded valley.

One autumn evening around 7pm, while gathering moss alone, he saw a silent, vertical beam of white light descend from the sky just feet in front of him. Overcome with fear, he lost all memory after this moment until he found himself alone in darkness, hours later—his watch now read 10pm. Distressed, cold, and shaken, he returned home. His wife later described him as pale and trembling, saying he recounted a “big white light” that had terrified him. He never offered an explanation, only calling it a "funny going on."
